Write your own name: learn how to do it in five fun ways.

Write your own name: learn how to do it in five fun ways.

The sensory and manipulative approach, helps children to learn, here are five fun and rewarding ways to help them focus on the letters of their own name.

Learn how to write your name with the paint.

This activity is very simple and rewarding especially for the little ones.

An A3-size sheet is proposed on which the names of children are written several times in different sizes, from large to small. Then you are asked to review the different letters using the fingertip and tempera in different colors, if possible a different one for each letter.

The activity can be proposed in different variations: repeating the letters of the name with dots, repeating them in a linear way, coloring them with brushes, repeating them as you wish.

Write your name with a little magic: white wax pastel and watercolor.

For this activity the teacher will prepare A3 sheets, with the names of the boys and girls in block letters, using white wax pastel.

I helped myself by drawing with pencil thin lines to separate one letter from the other.

Once you have done this first step that, if kept secret, will give a little magic to the activity, you move on to coloring with watercolor.

Based on the knowledge of the children, you can let them work independently or with a simple accompaniment, asking them to color each strip of a different color, using a good dilution with water, to make the color light and soft.

With each completed strip, the boys and girls will see appear, as if by magic, a different letter of their name.

Write your own name to color with the eyedropper.

For this activity it is good to use sheets of cardboard A3 size, also colored, on which to trace the name of the child in a large format.

You will then be asked to cover each letter with plenty of PVA glue and, subsequently, to cover it with a good amount of salt.

Once the excess salt is placed in a container, we will move on to the next letter.

Once all the names are finished, it will be necessary to wait for the glue to dry and, the next day, proceed with the second phase of the work.

For this part of the activity it is necessary to prepare different colors in transparent glasses, which are so diluted that they can be used comfortably with the eyedropper.

The children will then proceed by coloring the different letters with different colors, dropping the right amount of water and color on the glued salt.

Playing with the letters of your name.

For this game you have to play all the letters of the alphabet, enclosed in small circles, which children will then cut out.

Once they have all the letters cut out, the children, using a short straw, will pick up the letters of their own name, placing the straw on each letter and aspirating so that they can lift the cardboard and move it.

For the little ones, the game can be simplified by leaving their name well in evidence, so as to allow an easier recognition of letters and a simpler execution of the game.

Learn how to write your own name with sauce dispensers.

This activity requires:

  • a piece of white flour
  • a portion of salt
  • a part of water
  • a small amount of color
  • a small amount of PVA glue.
  • Dispenser for sauces.

Mix all the ingredients until you get a homogeneous batter, which will then be inserted into the dispenser for sauce. I have chosen to write the names on an A3 format in large size, so as to offer children a plot to work on without worries.

Older boys and girls can write their own names on their own, but keep in mind that if you have to focus on multiple aspects of oculo-manual coordination, stroke direction and strength dosage, self-written names may be too small.

By using the inverted dispenser to write, children have to regulate strength and movement and the beauty of this experience lies not only in the novelty of the instrument and the pleasing material, but also in the fact that different colors, used together, do not mix, Giving rise to a very nice effect.

Small check on the letters of the name.

This activity is a small game to repeat, to gradually get to recognize the letters of your name, you start by preparing an A3 sheet with reproduced the letters of the alphabet.

If the children are small the letters can also be few, but if they are larger the thing can be made more complex by adding all the alphabet.

At the top you will write the name of the boy or girl, using a different color for each letter.

The children should then recognize and mark all the letters of their own names with the corresponding letter colour.

On the alphabet you can also read: Learn the alphabet in kindergarten with five body games.
